Mercy Dogs. (Part 9 of 18 in "It's All About Jesus. -Matthew's Gospel")

What an incredibly tough text this week.  Within Matthew 15:21-28, we find what is known as one of Jesus' "hard sayings."  We call them this because at first glance, this just doesn't reflect the portrait of Jesus that we've created in our head...it doesn't seem like Him.

Instead of spoiling it too much for you now, watch below:

Panem Deo Gloria. (Part 8 of 18 in "It's all about Jesus. - Matthew's Gospel")

Well, we've jumped from part 6 to part 8, and that's because last week I invited another of our Legacy Church pastors to preach.  He shared the message "Deeper" from Matthew 9:1-8 in which Jesus is healing not just for a person's health, but for their holiness.  Jesus made a paralytic to walk and said "your sins are forgiven."  This in itself causes me to want to revisit the idea of how God seeks our happiness, but never at the expense of His or our holiness.  I'll come back to that on another day.

This week, we're in Matthew 14:13-21 and we find Jesus performing his most well-known miracle (other that His resurrection).  He takes the meal of bread and fish intended for one, and feeds many thousands of people, and I believe He did this miracle in order to teach His disciples something about Himself and about themselves.

Antidote. (Part 6 of 18 in "It's all about Jesus. -Matthew's Gospel")

In a world in which worry is an epidemic, we need an antidote...badly...and Jesus says that trust in God's peace and provision is that remedy.

In today's text Jesus emphasizes that people who belong to God and His Kingdom do not concern themselves with earthly treasures, but they focus their eyes on the kingdom currency that Jesus exhibits; and this can serve to cultivate a greater trust in God.
