What is the definition of a great game? Does a great game include a tight and tough struggle or can it be a 40 point blowout?

What up, Kevin Boyd. That was a great game, to be sure. Have you heard why T-Mac sat the 4th quarter?

One of the greatest games I ever witnessed was during the Bulls' second 3-peat when Jordan had the flu against the Jazz and he still stuck it to those guys. I can still remember Pippen carrying Jordan off the court because he didn't have anything left to give.

Another example was when Reggie Miller dominated the last minute of the playoff game vs. the Knicks when he dropped 12 points (or whatever) to come back and win.

So whenever I think of a great game, it consists of a hero (one who dominates the game, wills his team to victory, or determines the outcome of a game) and some sort of adversity (maybe an injury, a sudden comeback, or some other tragedy). Up until now, Game 6 of the Wizards/Bulls series has been the best game for 2005. The Bulls made 4 3-point shots (adversity) in 30 seconds to tie the score, but Gilbert Arenas (and the Wizards) walked away with the victory on his last second shot.

I hate to break it to you, but Saturday night's blowout does not constitute a great game unless you really despise the Rockets and are a true Mavs fan. Then every game is a great game because your team won. It's great to you because you just saw your team devastate their opponent, but the general consensus would not declare it a great game.

None of this discussion matters about the Mavs anyways, since they'll beat the Suns (there should be at least 2 "Great games" in that series)but will lose to the Spurs in 6 next round. Sorry, hate to break the news to you.

The Ft. Worth Star Telegram and Dallas Morning News only stated the obvious, that T-Mac "didn't step on the court in the fourth quarter. He sat on the bench with a towel around his head and a blank look on his face." (FST). (No mention of injury or anything)

The boys on ESPN radio only commented that the game was over, and so t-mac did not go back--even though we could very well assume this to be true since Houston's role players were stumped--THIS IS PLAYOFF BASKETBALL--anything can happen!! I was dissapointed by T-Mac sitting... I could understand the stars sitting the last 3-5 minutes with that kind of blowout...but t in playoff bball you play your heart out--Yao stayed in...TMac should have.

Since shawn seems to have the gift of prophecy...or rather fortune telling--I guess the conversation is over!

Shawn- I've got the bulls/jazz game on DVD-we ought to watch it sometime. Also--I am definintely rooting for the mavs over pheonix...and even picked them in 7 games on my NBA pick'n'roll predictions--but I will be surprised if I am right. Pheonix is amazing...and will be a great matchup for the Heat in the championships!! (no mention of S.A. needed)

If my dreams come true and dallas meets up with S.A.-this will call for @ least one watching party- so pull out your calendar!
